Parts of the historic Alton Towers ruins are open to the public during daylight hours. It can be quite an adventure with mazes of corridors and staircases leading you into rooms once lavished with luxury. If you're not afraid of heights then it's definitely worth going to the top where stunning views of Alton Towers and the surrounding countryside are on offer.
