Corkscrew's Return
After the recent announcement that steel from Corkscrew has been used in the theming for TH13TEEN, the corkscrew may be making a bigger return. Tuesday 15th December 2009 - Since the removal of Corkscrew it has been rumored that part of the ride would make a return to the Alton Towers Resort. In the recent announcement of TH13TEEN, the return of the Corkscrew was revealed, with a large tree theming feature that is made from steel from the remains of Corkscrew. However, a recent planning application has since revealed that a much bigger return is on the cards in the form of Europe's first double corkscrew inversion.

If the planning application is successful, the Entrance Plaza of Alton Towers will become the new home of the double corkscrew. The application shows that the Corkscrew will be placed between the admission kiosks and the monorail station, stretching to 11m high. The track will be painted dark purple with the supports in gold, to fit in with the present Alton Towers theming.

There is no indication as to when the "artwork" would be installed, if and when the application is approved, but it could be assumed that it would be a fairly speedy installation process, so all going well we could be seeing the welcome return of those famous Corkscrews at some point in 2010.
