Taken from the Towers Nerd (http://www.towersnerd.com) homepage:

A piece of land which was previously a little overgrown and rugged, has now been cleared and flattened behind Cred Street (http://www.towersnerd.com/tour/credstreet/). The plot is situated adjacent to the Cred Street Theatre (http://www.towersnerd.com/tour/credstreet/theatre/), behind the Bouncing Bugs (http://www.towersnerd.com/tour/credstreet/bouncingbugs/) ride, and is the start of an area which used to be known as 'Coaster Corner', where the Alton Beast and Alton Mouse once stood.

Here's a photo of the clearing (click to enlarge):

The Bouncing Bugs (http://www.towersnerd.com/tour/credstreet/bouncingbugs/) ride has already been rumoured to be exiting the park after serving for 26 years, so this clearing may point to something bigger coming in as a replacement. Not only that, but John Wardley, the roller coaster designer behind the likes of Nemesis, Air and Oblivion has been spotted in Cred Street with management staff. It's also worth noting that he's been seen in Ug Land too, and no-one knows why.

We'll be watching this space closely...

Now that's very interesting. With Wardley being spotted there recently there has to be somthing going on. Maybee this could be making room for the Giant Gurgle or this could be completly different. I will have an explore at the weekend. :P

This could be the start of a new area in the park. Who knows what kinds of things that they could put in there? Mind you, you do see the John Wardley in the park near to rides like the Squirrel nutty and the dragon coaster, so maybe they are planning several things for the park.:nerd2:

Well, i hope it is not for the baby coaster, maybe it could be something big for 2010, so that would mean have the main construction during the 2009 season and it all appears in 2010. Hopefully, something big.

Isn't the Baby Coaster already being constructed... or at least the footers have.

Can't wait to see what this becomes. The only thing better than construction, is early construction. :D

Something's afoot. With Wardley being spotted on park (once with plans), I think that AT have got something big in the pipeline. It (the clearing) could be for the neww Gurgle Coaster, but for all we know, it could be anything! I hope that it's something good. I really do.

After thinking about the clearing even more, I feel now that it may just be an expansion to "Cred Street" which sounds pretty good. It means that, yes, "Bouncing bugs" is most likely leaving and this is new space would be perfect for project "gaint gurgle".

But i still can't shift Jon Wardleys' presence on the park. Maybe, this clearing is for "gaint gurgle" but also, is it for a new pathway into a brand new area for 2010? ARGH

Still need to remember though, nothing offical has been annouced from the Resort Management team and so we had better just listen out for what is coming.

Somthing "large" definitely will be happening for 2010. Next season we will probly see the Flume rethemed and also Cred Street overhauled. Plus lot's more new entertainment.:D

I guess that would make sense, with it sitting pretty much in the Mutiny Bay area. However, the re-theme into The Flume isn't that old - so where did you here that from?

As for Project Gurgle making its way into Cred Street, I very much doubt that. As far as I can tell it was just a publicity stunt, otherwise The Sun wouldn't have referred to it as just "the latest concept".

Well from looking at the alton Towers Map at the moment it would be very simple for the designers to alter the design of the flume area and where the clearing is. I can see them changing the flume boat the people are sitting in and adding pirate hats to the people. Changing the station from taps to Something woody and Ropey, and Altering the colour of the tunnel to a brown. Matching in with the building styles with the skulls on.
As for the Clearing that too has plenty of space on the map for expansion.

Yes, i think we can see that as the way ahead sandbrooke. Nothing has been offically release so it will be 2010 and most likely Cred Street for 2009.

Taken from the Towers Nerd (http://www.towersnerd.com) homepage:

Earlier this month we reported (http://www.towersnerd.com/news/item.php?id=69) on a section of land which had been cleared behind Cred Street (http://www.towersnerd.com/tour/credstreet/). We said we'd keep and eye on the patch, and in doing so noticed the following:

http://www.towersnerd.com/images/news/clearing2_thumb2.jpg (http://www.towersnerd.com/images/news/clearing2_big2.jpg)

What makes this interesting of course, is the fact that John Wardley has been spotted in Cred Street (http://www.towersnerd.com/tour/credstreet/) on numerous occasions of late. Not only that, but the area is behind the Bouncing Bugs (http://www.towersnerd.com/tour/credstreet/bouncingbugs/), which is rumoured to be leaving the park at the end of the season. If that still isn't enough reason to speculate, then the fact that the area used to be called 'Coaster Corner' is another thought to ponder. Then again, this clearing could just be a tidy up and a bit of maintenance work, who knows...

Just a little update. I went today and had a look around cred street and noticed that towers have replaced the doors next to the Bouncing Bugs.:nerd2:

Also when i looked around i saw that tree in the picture above is still there! And looked in the same condition has in the picture.

what you think?

I remebering seeing these there yesterday now. (I didn't take to much notice). It looks to me like a new easy acces route for "possible" construction work as the site it is on is what looks like site managers office and construction area you see on building sites.

Yeah more hard wearing gates, so could definitely be for construction access.

I think thats a load of rubbish, why would they have offices for the maintence team so close to the public area? If they wanted to put offices in they would them right behind cred street.

it makes sence if they are building a coaster near there they wont want to take up the roads on the park and it will be closer to the rides in case they break down i know when i worked on air we waited 10-15 min for the the maintence team to get to us. And some of the rides close to cred street do go wrong a bit like rita.

What will it be theres been photo's which i found on another site which show some sort of planning or construction of some sort going on in the park. and aparently new rides are supposed to be being placed in cred street with a re-theme also bounceing bugs will be retiring after 26 years in the park. Also there are rumours that corkscrew AND ug swinger will be making an exit from the park in the next 2 years and there are also rumours that ug land is getting a total re-theme. Does this mean that Alton Towers is going to get a total new face in the next few years but to be honest i like Alton Towers as it is and i dont want it to change but all i want is maybe for them to add a new area to it or just add to the park instead of getting rid of all the golden oldys. Any way the photos below show work going on in the park!
