On many forums the topic of park music is one of the hottest and seeing as this hasn't been discussed for a while on this forum i thought about bringing it up.

I don't know if you all keep up with music from Thorpe and Chessington as well as Alton but a question i would like to ask is...
What is your favorite piece of park music?

I would say from Thorpe Park (even though they have great soundtracks for their rides) my favorite would be the Samurai Ride Music.
From Chessington is would have to be Tomb Blaster.
And from Alton i suppose my favorite would be Hex's ride theme.

There are a few for me,

From alton it would have to be both Hex and Duel (especially where the duel theme rings out over power chords ....)

and then theres the Slammer music ... its just really epic and great in everyway :D

another one worth a mention though is the Detonator fright night music they use (Rock a bye baby played in a creepy fashion) :)

I've got quite a few favourites, in Alton my fav would have to be Nemesis' music, it's a classic just as the ride is, and it fits the themeing perfectly. Others I like are the original Air music and the Hex music, I also quite like the Charlie soundtrack.

My favourite theme in Thorpe would have to be the Lost City theme, I think it really does well for the the theme of the whole area. Nemesis Inferno has quite a good tune aswell.

It was said last year, that the music at Alton Towers was going to be going through a bit of a change this year, or at least that's the impression I got. So it'll be interesting to see if there will be any difference once the main season starts.

My favourite music of all time at Alton Towers has got to be the Toyland Tours theme, especially the Sonic (http://www.towersnerd.com/download.php?file=audio/toylandtours/Toyland_Tours_Sonic.mp3) bit.

If I had to choose now, it'd be between Nemesis and Charlie...

As for other theme parks, I do love the Slammer music at Thorpe Park, and Nemesis Inferno's too!

I have to say the best Alton Towers music has to be from Duel! Just that dancey feeling. Same with the old Haunted House theme.

From say Thorpe Park, it just has to be out of Colossus, Slammer & Samurai.

Pleasure Beach, Blackpool only has Valhalla playing its own dedicated ride music, and thats just spectacular!

Ooooo i do remember the Valhalla theme actually, and i remember it being very good, well powerful.
Does anyone have a link to download it because im sure it has been up for download i just have had my laptop reformatted and didn't recover my music files but i did used to have it.

I forgot to mention the old Towers Street music, that was brilliant it still brings back memories of the park when I listen to it. I also really like the new Towers Street music, it really has a "resort" feel, similar to music heard in places like Universal and PortAventura etc.

Ohhhh the old Towers Street music is pure genius, i cant believe how they got so many tones and parts of the park into one piece of music, it suited the park 100% and i wish it would come back!

I am actually leaning a little closer to the Towers Street music we saw new last year. Although I love the full compliation of tracks the older Towers Street music used, i actually don't think it was as effective in raising the morale of guests. Any given guest could hear the music for 30 minutes or 30 seconds. If the track is to make a big emotional impression, it should be constant - something they can make a connection to that area of the park with. Yes, the new Towers Street music is repetitive if you are just listening to it from a computer but I think it does a better job.

Of course, what would be best of all is simply having varitions of In the Hall of mountain king played around the entrance plaza, towers street, monorail and cable cars. If the park could compile a playlist of a traditional ITHOMK, a "magical" full version like the one heard on the new advert, a jazz/blues one etc...

I honeslty can't pick my favourite park tune. I love listening to them because they are all so emotionally exxagerated and specific. They all have such a strong effect that can make rides a true journey. Possibly Hex has that edge...I'm not sure. I love the original Air tune, Duel, Hex, original Ug Land, Oblivion...

The new season has seen some new music introduced into the park and I quite like it. The Mutiny Bay music is really good and finishes ooff the area nicely. We also noticed some new Katanga Canyon music being played, which ties in with the Towers Street music, so I wonder if we'll be seeing more music following this theme, around the park.

I quite like the Towers Street music, but nothing can beat the Oblivion tune! There is actually quite a good range of music at the moment, I like the Flume, Air, Hex, all of the Mutiny Bay Music. all the music is much better then this time last year.

I'm pretty sure this tune was being played last year when there was a rehaul of the park music. Along with the new Towers Street music - which was generally well recieved - we heard Air and Katanga music that followed the main melody as the new Towers Street Music. We also had new Rita and Nemesis music which followed a different tune.

Does anyone know what the status for the music in the park is at the moment? Towards the end of last year, we heard the return of the original Air, Nemesis and Rita. Is this still in effect.

I hope so!

Yes Air, Nemesis have their original music playing and Rita is still playing licenced rock music.

I half expected to hear new music all over the park this year, after it was said there was going to be some changes this season, when we were on the Behind the Scenes tour.

I can't fault the Oblivion theme.

Oblivion's music is good, and suits the ride perfectly, but I think the rest of X-Sector could do with some music, the area can sometimes feel a bit quiet to me.

X-Sector could do with improvements in general, I feel. I agree that adding music around the area would help, but I don't think Oblivion's music would fit the whole are somehow. It's good for the station for building the anticipation, but I don't think that mood would be the way forward for the whole area. The spooky feeling of trepidation is needed, and could be pulled off by a mechanical and eerie sound collage, similar to that heard on Nemesis' full music.

I have to disagree with you there. I think X-Sector as a whole hasn't strong enough theming for that sort of music. we already have gloomy wood and Forbidden Valley for that sort of thing. we don't need X-Sector as well. I always saw that area as quite, metalic, funky, exciting more than trepidation and spookyness. I think Alton could make the area more unqiue by playing some form of Electro / Metalic music. more funky , but with a hint of what you were describing.

I just think X-Sector has been over-ruled by other areas and stays in minority with less theming. And It really could do with a change, its starting to look old and unwanted. Is it me or are we seeing less and less visitors to that area all the time?

Duel! wooooo!
N Hex but duel is the best!

I didn't mean spooky in the obvious Forbidden Valley, X-Sector way. The music would have to be modern and metallic sounding, but a fully blown Oblivion track played around the area wouldn't work. It would just seem like random dance music. It works in the queueline and in the station because it's a much more contained area and feels more direct to nervous riders. Having this music in the whole area is too open and vague. Any themed music for the area would have to be less descript to make more of an impact - general ambience.

I can't fault the Oblivion theme.

Yea, I love that too. True beats

Rita's licensed songs are fun, as well.
