I'm doing this topic on behalf of my mum really because she asked me to.

Anyway over the past few months our bank(Natwest) has been unfairly charged by the bank. We found out and threatened to take them to court. Because of this we got £12000 off of them:D

Just wondering wether any of you lot have or are being charged un-fairly by a bank

I'm with Natwest, and my only complaint is that at one point I had a direct debit set up (I think it was wit either ebay or paypal), anyway I bought something online and it turned out I was 3p short, putting my balance in the red.

Now I only expected to have to pay that 3p back or maybe a little bit extra in interest, like 20p or something. I got a bit of shock when they presented me with a bill for £36.50, the reason they say is that they had to act on my behalf and came to the decision to let the transaction through, and that the £36.50 was an administrative fee, I wasn't happy. I would, however, like to know who get's paid that much to decide the fate of just a few pennies :P

I've never had anything like that happen, when I was living in Portsmouth I used to live in my overdraft and almost every month just before pay day I always went over my overdraft limit and never once received a charge. I have had interest charged to my account but that was only ever a couple of £.

I think very soon in the future the banks will be forced to lower these charges, with the billions of profits that they make each year they can't get away with it for much longer.

I wouldn't count on it, not with the collapse of the Sub-Prime market.
